Big Life Adventure, a trailblazing social enterprise organisation set up by Peak15, aims to revolutionise support services for adults with learning disabilities.
Recognising the significant gap in life opportunities between those with learning disabilities and those without, Big Life Adventure seeks to address barriers in social care and enhance quality of life.
Their innovative approach moves beyond traditional social care, focusing on fulfilling lives through enriched experiences. The Big Life Adventure philosophy helps individuals discover possibilities, dream of better lives, and design steps to achieve their aspirations.
To bridge the digital divide, they developed unique tools following the Discover, Dream, Design process, and have launched their core platform within their organisation, striving to create a brighter future for those they support.

The challenge
The key challenge for Big Life Adventure was balancing safety with empowerment in an environment where social care often errs on the side of caution, restricting individuals with learning disabilities.
They sought to break down these barriers, encouraging risk-taking and real-life experiences while still fulfilling their duty of care. Additionally, limited funding to healthcare services created time and budget-critical constraints. Despite these challenges, Big Life Adventure aims to create a social media platform that allows self-expression and communication without human judgement or paternalistic control.
The solution
To ensure we delivered a solution that truly added value and addressed all user needs, we initiated a design phase centred entirely on the user experience.
We defined the project's success through a clear product north star and then mapped out user needs using detailed personas. Following the design phase, we launched into R&D, rigorously researching and comparing AI solutions to identify the best fit for Big Life Adventure.
In a short span, we developed a prototype, allowing the team to test AI features and showcase the platform's potential to prospective users. Our team developed a scalable, AI-driven solution for Big Life Adventure, enhancing their social media platform to create a secure, engaging space for individuals with learning disabilities.
Leveraging our award-winning tool, VisualSpec, we crafted an intuitive interface that empowers admin users to monitor content and train AI models seamlessly.
The impact
By leveraging AI to monitor and educate vulnerable adults about social boundaries and risks, Big Life Adventure can protect its users while granting them the freedom to make their own choices, ultimately bridging the digital divide and fostering independence.
